Preparing for Easter, Băla, April 2023
Right before Orthodox Easter, families gather in Bala, a small village in the middle of Transylvania, to clean the house, cook and prepare for the Holiday. Little dried vine and tree twigs are burned in the brick backyard oven to heat it; meanwhile, back in the kitchen, dough is prepared and pies are filled with salty cheese, cabbage and jams. Eggs are dyed red and everybody prepares for the big event.
